Reminisce

November 8, 2010

We never know what blessings bring                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           a day as lovely as this

Where words of truth and honesty ring
rejoined,  we reminisce.

the work of a devil

November 7, 2010

the eyes of the devil

watch over thee

battling the hell of

Mount Merapi

volcano erupts

belts out angry black gas

burning red lava

and pale white ash

weighted down branches

majestic white frost

laces the palm trees

of a paradise lost

desolate streets

blanket of soot

villagers abandonment

exodus on foot

famers returning

to save powdered crops

military rescues

are ordered to stop.

masked covered marchers

the coffin parade

soldiers have fallen

and the memories fade

refugees rummage

through debris and soot

search for necessities

treasure and loot

mannequin livestock

frozen in sand

reaching for God from

the rubble a hand

Motherless children

lay hungry and wait

death’s at the door

to seal their fate.

the eyes of the devil

watch over thee

battling the hell of

Mount Merapi

Fall Back in Time

November 7, 2010

it’s nine a.m. with a ten o’clock sun

saving the daylight has just begun.

soakin’ up warmth exhalin’ slow

like shortness of breath sky fades with a glow.

falling behind spent an hour with bliss

remembering fondly a sweet stolen kiss.

The Sound of Election Season

November 2, 2010

moonbeams and liars and corporate deniers
judges who run unopposed but required
4 billion dollars election costs it’ll bring
these are the are a few of the craziest things.

some measures do something the others are negating
with what we’ll be paying the grim reaper’s waiting
lawn signs pave streets  with  much political bling
these are the are a few of the craziest things.

kissing babies
walking precincts
the voters are stark raving mad
I simply look back as these craziest days
and that’s when I feel real bad.

pundits and pollsters,  psephology galore
candidates calling or knocking on my door
ads where supporters chant, rap and sing
these are the are a few of the craziest things.

results coming in we watch TV over dinner
projections and spoiler alerts tell us winners
guests at HQ some weep some cheering
these are the are a few of the craziest things.

so get out and vote or we won’t have to listen
to whining, complaining or all of your bitchen’
we’ve got a choice be it right or left wing
these are the are a few of the craziest things.

now the chits fall
and the polls close
final ballots are had
I simply look back as these craziest days
and that’s when I feel real bad.
