And so it begins, again; forty days and forty nights. Today we are united with visible ashes on our foreheads. We are called to prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Today we recall the mysteries of our faith and pray for wisdom, understanding and guidance on our journey. Today we fast and call to mind the ultimate sacrifice made for us by our Lord. Today we turn away from our selfish wants and needs and place the good of others above our own. Knowing full well that too soon the days become a holy indifference, let us make a lenten promise and seal it in our hearts today.
