First Things First

For the people of Japan, their world was rocked. The instant the 8.9 earthquake hit, lives were forever changed. And as the tsunami sped across the country the faith of a nation was tested. We busy ourselves with much triviality at times. Did you kiss your loved one goodbye this morning? We are often so preoccupied with ourselves. Did you share one moment of yourself with the checker or clerk at the store and make eye contact? Papers pile up, dust accumulates. Is there room in our hearts, our lives for God? James 1 reminds us that our faith is being tested each day. Will we respond with kindness and love? As we reflect on the devastation, destruction and our distractions let us be reminded to put first things first. What will you put first today?
