Have Courage, Take Heart

The sabbatical journey taken by Henri J. M. Nouwen during his final year was recorded in a diary and can be a year round inspiration. Most certainly his words fill our hearts during the season of Lent.

Courage comes from the word coeur which means heart!

Keeping lenten observances requires courage of the heart, even in the most quiet of ways. Whether abstaining from meat, sacrificing your afternoon soda or helping someone in need, there is much expected of us.

Do you have the courage to avoid gossip, not talk behind someone’s back or ridicule someone? Do you have the courage to think well of people? Your thoughts can become your actions.

Have courage… take heart.
