Whither You Go

Whither You Go

The winter has been cold. At times you have felt neglected, alone. But Ruth 1:16 reminds us not to send me away or urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. For “where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.”

A Zin in the Highlands

January 6, 2013

Just finished up this bold 2006 Highlands Zinfandel. Located in the Howell Mountain of Napa Valley, you are sure to enjoy this zin: intense fruit that has been aged for 18 months in french oak barrells. This wine has a character all of its own. Rich, smooth, creamy; a wine you can decant and drink for a couple of nights of enjoyment!

FIRSTS

The birth of a child signals the beginning of firsts. As a parent you can probably remember many in the life of your son or daughter; turning over for the first time, baby’s first word, baby’s first step and baby’s first tooth…

Imagine, however, as you “turn the page” on a new year that you are facing a day of firsts! What will be the first words spoken to a loved one, a friend or more importantly to a stranger?

Time and again in 2013 we have an chance to offer first words.

My prayer is that with each of these first words spoken,  may they be reflective of God’s blessing and peace. Amen.

Angels Among Us

The Common Prayer reads: Lord, you are always weaving the things of heaven with the things of earth. You dwell among us, above us, and within us. Make us expectant of angels tarrying to do your work. Form us into eager messengers, ready to speak peace in broken communities. Amen.

A New Year 2013 Resolution or Two

January 1, 2013

15 minutes each day with God~reading the word, reflecting on a passage, or in conversation with God.

15 minutes each day with pen~posting it’s my passion, making a journal entry, or writing free form.

15 minutes with movement~exercise, shake it up just a bit.

15 minutes with a mindful activity of choice~hold a book in hand, connect to the creative side, make the difference in the world—in someone else’s day.

Just 15 minutes with spirit, mind, creativity and body.
