imgres-1Hugo Chavez is dead.”Today the people of the United States lost a friend it never knew it had. And poor people around the world lost a champion,” said Senn Penn.

Remember, little girl, I’m like the thorn tree that flowers on the plain. I waft my scent to passersby and prick he who shakes me. Don’t mess with me, Condoleezza. Don’t mess with me, girl.” He then blew a kiss at the camera.

Let’s save the human race, let’s finish off the US empire,” Chávez said during a trip to Iran.

I read that 3,000 soldiers are arriving, Marines armed as if they were going to war. There is not a shortage of guns there, my God. Doctors, medicine, fuel, field hospitals, that’s what the United should send,” he said on his weekly TV show. “They are occupying Haiti undercover.”

More than a year before his death, Chávez said it was possible that the United States caused the cancer he had been diagnosed with.

He called Bush the devil and Obama a clown.

He changed laws in his country so that he could be re-elected indefinitely.

He amassed the largest military stacked with officers in leadership of any country.

He decreed a time zone only for his country.

His is one of the most violent cities in the world.

Carefully Consider the Door

March 4, 2013

The front or the back

Garage or the side

There is much that it tells

Much more that it does hide.

Cracked or broken

Settled or warm

It keeps out the cold

And protects all from harm.

The Third Sunday in Lent

March 3, 2013

The Third Sunday in Lent

You lent me this time in the desert
To draw closer in my walk with the Lord
I stumbled on my way with temptation
Turning time and again from the word.

You lent me this time for repentance
Conversion, renewal and love
I was tested, confronted by evil
Awaiting your help from above.

I lent you my pain to draw nearer
You lifted it high on the cross
You sacrificed life for the living
You lent us this time for great loss.

I lent you my body broken
Complaining, I turned from your face
The living waters of Jesus
Renew me this Lent with your grace.
