20+ years ago, our day trips to LA were frequent & spontaneous. It was a time when congestion was less punishing, our energy levels were high, and time was on our side.
On one such jaunt to Wilshire Boulevard, we came upon the Craft and Folk Art Museum. Across from the La Brea Tar Pits, this 3-story neo-Georgian building, which was designed in 1930 by Gilbert Stanley Underwood, holds a space for emerging artists with a focus on handmade objects, ethnic identity, and multi-sensory experiences.
Founded by painter Edith Robinson Wyle, the Pitt man’s grandmother, the museum and this relationship are featured in this month’s AD. What a delightful, insightful dimension into art and the Wyle family.
